The first week after landing is not only about registration and moving into accommodation. New international students also have health-related requirements connected to the Student Pass process.
Arrange the in-country medical screening
EMGS states that new international students must attend a medical screening at an EMGS panel clinic within seven working days of arrival. The official panel-clinic list is updated over time, and the EMGS mobile app can help students locate a clinic.
This deadline matters because EMGS says it cannot begin the Student Pass endorsement and supporting-letter process when the required in-country screening has not been completed.
Confirm when and where to attend
- Tell your university that you have arrived.
- Follow its registration and medical-screening instructions.
- Use the current EMGS panel-clinic list rather than an old saved address.
- Carry the documents your institution or clinic requests.
- Keep proof of attendance.
Understand your medical insurance
EMGS states that medical insurance is compulsory and that international students must be covered by a locally purchased medical health insurance scheme. Coverage must remain valid through the period required for the Student Pass, so check the start date, benefits, exclusions, panel providers and any deductible.
Do not postpone both tasks
Travel fatigue makes it tempting to delay administration. Put registration, screening and insurance confirmation into your arrival plan before you fly, leaving time to resolve any document or appointment issue.
